The software giant was interested in resoundingly demonstrating the visual capabilities of the new 16-bit computers over their 8-bit predecessors, and wished to use Flight Simulator to prove that due to the game's excellent graphics. Some more recent works relegate the calculation of the aircraft dynamics to a flight simulator such as RealFlight 10 or X-Plane 11,12.
